A rather intriguing companion app to Ubisoft’s upcoming game Watch_Dogs has just been released for both Android and iPhone. This app, called Hide (styled as H_ide), allows you to effectively encrypt your messages, texts and facebook pictures – hiding you and taking you ‘off the grid.’ You can even distort and hide your voice when making up to 20 second recordings (you get to choose a filter to modulate your voice).

What is the advantage to making your pictures and messages appear like utter nonsense? Well, that’s simple. If your friend has the same app installed on their iPhone or Android device, they will be able to ‘decrypt‘ the message or picture and see it as originally intended, then reply in a similarly encrypted fashion! Exchanging totally private messages over a social network is a peculiar prospect, especially for those who DON’T have the app and have no idea what’s going on!?! The best way to avoid being lost in the confusion? Get the app!
Anyone who downloads the H_ide companion app also receives an H_IDENTITY, a simple identity card that allows you to view your hacker rank within the Watch_Dog community. Better still, you will be able to unlock and receive exclusive content on the Watch_Dogs game once it is released on November 22nd (PS3, PC and Xbox 360) or November 29th (PS4) – Xbox One release details are yet to be announced.
