Xbox One exclusive Crimson Dragon gets release date, price and new screenshots

At the Tokyo Game Show this year, Microsoft has revealed some new screenshots and a price for Crimson Dragon. Crimson Dragon is an upcoming rail shooter based around the Panzer Dragoon series. The project is being developed by Groundings Inc and sees the Panzer Dragoon creator and lead developer, Yukio Futatsugi, return to the helm.

The premise of the game is… you guessed it, dragons. Picture a planet where dragons rule the lands and humanity is close to extinction. You control a dragon using a rail shooter mechanic, firing at other beasts on a colourful and picturesque landscape. Microsoft have revealed 6 high quality screenshots during the reveal to be marvelled at, and you can see larger versions by selecting the thumbnails below.

The game is to be released exclusively for Xbox One and will be available on the console’s launch of November 22nd 2013. The pricing announced so far has only been in dollars, at the reasonable price tag of $19.99 – this translates to roughly £12.50 in the UK. According to the official Xbox blog, anyone who purchases the game before December 31st 2013 will receive a free exclusive dragon to use in-game. Xbox have have also revealed a trailer:

Originally, the game was announced as a Kinect-only title on Xbox 360, with the working title ‘Project Draco’. With the final title ‘Crimson Dragon’ announced and Microsoft citing delays without reason, we now know that Crimson Dragon will have both controller support and Kinect functionality. At least the reason for the delay seems to be quite obvious now, with an illustrious Xbox One launch day spot.
