Yesteray, Take-Two Interactive broke entertainment world records. GTA V has earned the fastest $1 billion (£625 million) in the entertainment industry – ever.
A statement was released on the Take-Two Games website earlier today, from chairman and CEO of Take-Two, Strauss Zelnick:
“Grand Theft Auto is a cultural phenomenon and Rockstar Games continues to redefine what can be achieved in interactive entertainment”
Huge sales figures have already been revealed earlier in the week with the Take-Two announcement of $800 million (£500 million) day one sales for GTA V.The previous holder of the fastest $1 billion record was announced by Activision Blizzard with Call of Duty: Black Ops II, 15 days after it’s release date.
With top analysts having predicted the $ 1 billion mark not being hit until the end of the year, it would appear no-one was expecting the game to move this fast. GTA V will launch in Japan on October 10th and should also be released in Brazil before the end of the year; another two huge markets to add to the pile. At this rate, it’s getting hard to predict just how well GTA V will have sold by the end of the year.
