Following the recent leak of achievements for Batman: Arkham Origins comes a spoiler filled and illuminating insight into Call of Duty: Ghosts.
Exophase have posted a list of achievements for Activision’s latest which hints at story details, gameplay features and new modes.
The list contains a number of join the dots style achievements for completing the game on harder difficulties, collecting audio files and the like but the list also hints at the direction the single player game goes in.
Potential spoilers follow.
The achievements for story progress appear to confirm L.A and Las Vegas as in-game locations whilst other achievements reference jungle, arctic and underwater environments.
Whilst the recent trailer all but confirmed levels set in space environments, some of the achievements on the list go a stage further – “They look like ants” appears to confirm firing on enemy targets from a commandeered space station.
Vehicular combat is set to make a return though it is unclear whether the mentioned A10 Jet is fully controllable or features in a scripted segment as seen in previous titles.
More interestingly than the single player achievements are those that hint at a new multiplayer mode. Whilst Treyarch’s Call of Duty titles feature the infamous Zombie mode, Infinity Ward’s alternative co-op mode has differed from title to title.
As such, there has much supposition as to whether Call of Duty: Ghosts would feature Spec-Ops missions, a retooled Zombie mode or something entirely different.
A collection of ten achievements makes mention of “Extinction challenges” and “round 20 in Safeguard.” Interestingly, the achievements appear to confirm the co-op nature of the mode, “No Man Left – Escape with all four players” and the ability to erect defenses, “Any Means Necessary – Get 50 kills with the electric fence and fire traps in a single game.”
The new mode appears to mirror Black Ops 2’s TranZit mode in that you are tasked with collecting items “Trash Picker – Scavenge 40 items in a single game” and traversing multiple locations with “Cabin Fever – Make it to the cabin” and “City Dweller – Made it to the city.”
With “Extinction challenges”, four achievements which mention escape and featuring a post apocalyptic USA as a setting, the new mode appears to be building on the solid foundation of Treyarch’s Zombies.
The only question that remains unanswered is what form the antagonists of this new mode will take. Independent militia, Federation troopers or old fashioned Nazi Zombies?
