So far all many of us have seen on the new Killzone Shadow Fall game is a controlled demo. The original footage looked stunning. Visually enticing, coupled with the intense FPS action we’ve come to expect from the Killzone series. Sony used to peg Killzone as its Halo beater and whilst critically acclaimed, the sales – although good, have never really threatened the Halo stronghold.
However, this new footage might make people begin to rethink Sony’s original assessment. The action looks frenetic and intense. The Killzone series appears to have knocked the action all the way up to 11. The environments once again look glorious and colourful, weaponry seems to be off the chain with a host of exciting new guns, gadgets and defences. Close combat also appears to be a new feature. The only question I have about the multiplayer as a result of viewing the trailer is – will we have access to some of those ships I saw flying around in the background? If vehicles are included this could be a sci-fi Battlefield 4. I have often enjoyed previous Killzone games but this….this is something else.
For eagle-eyed viewers who watched Sony’s trailer for their new PS4 dashboard/interface, you’ll have noticed that players will be able to download the Killzone campaign and multiplayer separate from each other. So if one or the other isn’t your thing you have the option to disregard it. It wouldn’t surprise me if other FPS’s follow suit such as COD, Battlefield and Halo.
On top of that Sony announced a new Season Pass, which will feature a ton of DLC.
