Ubisoft have let the cat out of the bag and announced that Farcry 4 will be released in Europe on November 20th 2014. Farcry 4 will be coming to PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Click here for the up to date story.
Over the past couple of days, an image has surfaced of one of the antagonists from Far Cry 3, Vaas, in a padded cell. The image appeared after a recently (and accidentally) announced Far Cry 4. Composer, Cliff Martinez, revealed in an interview with ‘Lost in the Multiplex’ that he’s currently working on a score for a video game called Far Cry 4. After the image appeared, rumours quickly circulated that this was a teaser image with more to follow next year (if you look in the background, a date can be seen – 04.04.2014 the assumed date of the full announcement). It was all very exciting speculation!
We reached out to Ubisoft to confirm the theory that this image is the real deal, or quash it as indeed a fake.
And the verdict is…. Fake!
The Ubisoft representative has said:
“This is the first time I’ve seen this. So most likely just a piece of fan-made art to get people talking about a possible Far Cry sequel!”
We’d also agree, as the logo in the corner doesn’t have the ‘Ubi-feel’ – poor photoshop perhaps?
The idea that Vaas is in the sequel for Far Cry 3 is a far-fetched one, as (warning, spoilers!) protagonist Jason Brody supposedly kills Vaas in a hallucination partway through Far Cry 3. His death was a strange one though, as we never actually saw his body afterwards – so we wouldn’t want to rule out an appearance!
Far Cry 4 has not yet been formally announced, but we’re definitely looking forward to it!
