The internet is a wonderful place sometimes! With the spilled beer barely mopped up from the Batman Arkham Origins launch party, those eagle eyed writers at Kotaku have put together a report suggesting that Rocksteady COULD be planning something BIG for next year. Kevin Conroy took care of the rest.
The report relates to two simultaneously published, but seemingly unrelated job listings. The first listing, from a job list website, CGHUB asks for “an extremely talented Junior/Graduate Asset and/or Lighting Artist to work on one of the biggest AAA titles for 2014.” It also makes note of it being a job in the UK and that the game is a “high profile 3rd person, action / adventure title.”
The other listing is on the London based Rocksteady website – which advertises a lot of the same posts, but no details as to what game they are working on. Rocksteady’s last game was the hugely successful Batman Arkham City, released in 2011.
You’ll notice neither site mentions Batman.
However, earlier this year, voice actor Kevin Conroy announced he was working on “the next Arkham game” – then was notably absent from Warner Bros. Montreal’s recently released Batman Arkham Origins (Conroy later confirmed that he was working on a project – that was NOT Arkham Origins). So what does this mean? Conroy is clearly working on something Arkham related (or has gone mad) and Rocksteady are yet to announce anything they are working on. If these job listings ARE indeed related, then Rocksteady are also hiring for a next-gen, ambitious, guaranteed triple A, 3rd party action / adventure to be released in 2014…
Call us crazy, but that all sounds a bit like Batman!
We at Twinstick are BIG fans of Batman Arkham Origins, but the prospect of Rocksteady taking back the reigns in a ‘hugely ambitious’ Batman game gets us VERY excited. Personally, I’d like to see a full origins story. From the death of Thomas and Martha Wayne, right up to ‘The Court of Owls’ – with ‘The Death of the Family’ story released as DLC the following year!
Ok, that’s perhaps too ambitious, but the rumours of a true origins game just won’t seem to die down, despite the release of Arkham Origins last month!
Whatever happens, you can bet Kevin Conroy will open his mouth about it again before he’s supposed to – and you can read all about that here on Twinstick Gaming!
