A lot of speculation has been circling the internet as to the exact price games such as Assassin’s Creed, Battlefield 4 and Fifa 14 will be on either PS4 or Xbox One. It seems all of this conjecture has been confirmed by GAME who currently have the PS4 version of Call of Duty: Ghosts priced at £59.99. This is the physical copy on the shelf and not the online price.
Many of you may be unaware that Call of Duty: Ghosts will be available from midnight (5th of Nov) on various formats including PS4. This is in spite of the Playstation 4’s release date of the 29th of November. So yes you can buy COD: Ghosts on PS4 well in advance of the PS4 itself. The Xbox One version is due 15th of November.
Whilst this is only one retailer who has confirmed their pricing for PS4 games, it is yet to be seen just how competitive the market will become, with it’s pricing, in the run up to Christmas. Also this is only one game out of around 20 other launch titles, many of which could be potentially cheaper than Call of Duty: Ghosts.
If the price tag seems somewhat excessive I won’t spend all day explaining that Europe’s RRP is actually £55 for CURRENT gen and that the benefits of next gen are infinitely higher. Instead you have two options. Firstly, various retailers are offering trade values of around £40 for your current gen versions of Battlefield, COD or Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag that you can put directly towards the next gen version. Alternatively you can buy Call of Duty: Ghosts for PS3 or Xbox 360 and put that disc in either the PS4 or Xbox One. Then for an additional £10 (depending upon the publisher) you can upgrade to the PS4 or Xbox One version, downloading it directly to your shiny new machine.
Whatever the scenario, it’s best to get saving those pennies early.
