Yes, finally, as if there was any doubt. The release of Uncharted 4 has now been confirmed by Naughty Dog at last nights Playstation 4 North American launch party, with a short teaser trailer. Sony confirmed, the as yet unnamed, Uncharted game will be coming exclusively to Playstation 4. Sorry Ps3 users.
The rumour mill has certainly been spinning over the internet for months now as to whether Naughty Dog were actually working on a new Uncharted game, especially in light of the success of the Last of Us. Naughty Dog have often made it clear that they would only ever continue a franchise, despite how successful or popular it may be, if there was a compelling reason to return.
At Twinstickgaming, Uncharted itself is more than a compelling reason to return.
Here we have the teaser trailer for you.
The trailer itself doesn’t reveal too much but judging by the map one of the locations will centre around Madagascar. Also the emblem circled in latin that states “Hodie mecum eris in Paradiso”, is from the seven last words of christ and falls under the second word: “Today you will be with me in Paradise.” The narration is voiced by the actor Todd Stashwick who I believe we can safely assume will be the games antagonist.
This trailer certainly feels that Uncharted is sailing into darker waters, which I’m sure will be embraced by fans worldwide. But some big questions remain. Will Nolan North be returning for the role of Nathan Drake? When do these events take place in the Uncharted universe? Will we see any old faces? Is the mysterious voice actually angry at Drake or someone else? WHEN IS UNCHARTED 4 RELEASED? The latter being the biggest of the questions.
For me, personally, the Uncharted series has been one of the most triumphant gaming experiences in recent years and is certainly a game changer. I certainly expect Uncharted 4 to be no different. To reiterate that Arne Meyer of Naughty Dog posted in a blog;
Our goal is to continue what we’ve done in previous console generations and once again deliver the best in storytelling, performance capture, technical innovation and graphics on the PS4.
