Bungie announce worldwide Destiny release date

Bungie have announced the release date for their anticipated new IP, Destiny. According to their official news pages, the game will be released worldwide on 9th September 2014. That’s a solid 9 months of waiting before we can sink our teeth into the game!

The announcement also brings to light Bungie and Activision’s plan for beta testing, which begins in the summer of 2014. TwinStickGaming reported earlier in the year about a leak on Destiny’s beta program, where you can still register your interest today. Sony fans will be happy to know that the beta will be coming to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 first.

Destiny is Bungie’s first foray into games development since parting ways with their epic video game franchise, Halo. The action-RPG game is said to be ‘open world’ with themes of ‘mystic science fiction’. It will also boast a class-based playable character system, allowing for heavy player customisation. The game will feature single player, multi-player and co-operative elements, although these have yet to be detailed.
