Ubisoft have really set their stall out for the next generation of games consoles. The short teaser trailer for The Division‘s ‘Snow drop engine’ released earlier in the week did little to impress – but served its purpose. It made sure everyone was looking their way for yesterday’s full showcase.
And, oh my, was it worth the wait!?
To quote the cheesy voice over: “Never has a video game looked this realitsic”.
The world of Tom Clancy’s The Division may be the most beautiful urban decay we’ve ever seen on a screen. Dynamic day and night cycle, radically altering the look and feel of each area; a ludicrous level of detail to the lighting; particle effects that react and respond to environmental factors – including light and an actual weather system that leaves a lasting, yet adaptable impressions on the city-scape.
It may be too early to speak of The Division in terms of gameplay, but in terms of intrigue and excitement, this game just rocketed to the top of the list. The precision shooting alone is mind blowing! Actual, specific bullet damage that dramatically affects the environment is something that has never been approached in such minute detail!
I’m not sure if the game will require you to shoot holes in the wing mirrors of cars? But DAMN, if that doesn’t look like fun!
The massively multiplayer ambitious action game is scheduled for a Q4, 2014 release on PS4, Xbox One and PC. Don’t expect THIS one to see a current gen release!
