The developers ‘From Software‘ have no plans to make DLC for their up coming title Dark Souls II, Takeshi Miyazoe told Edge magazine;
“For Dark Souls II, we don’t even expect any additional downloadable content because we want to deliver a full game, the full experience, to fans who purchase the package from day one.” We did do additional content for Dark Souls, but generally downloadable content for Dark Souls II is not really
being considered. Buy the package and you’ll get the full experience, and you’ll have as much fun as anybody else.”
‘From Software’ are clearly setting themselves aside from rival games developers, who have often welcomed and championed various lucrative DLC packages. We at Twinstickgaming question whether this a smart move for Dark Souls 2? Will other developers follow? Doubtful. But the one thing Dark Souls has, that other developers utilise DLC for, is replay value. Dark Souls is about the challenge and surpassing your friends or your own personal achievement. Learning from previous mistakes, much like the original games of old, Dark Souls will continue to punish you but have you aching for more. We can only hope that this game can live up-to the high standards of the previous one. Dark Souls II is out on the PS3, PC and Xbox 360 in March 2014
