South Park: The Stick of Truth gameplay looks like an interactive episode

With a troubled genesis that has featured delays and a change of publisher, South Park: The Stick of Truth has faced much in the way of adversity leading up to its release.

Judging by the new Giggling Donkey gameplay trailer, Obsidian have not let considerable difficulties damage the authentically crappy South Park videogame fans have been waiting for.

Since South Park: The Stick of Truth’s E3 2012 showing, it was apparent that having Matt Stone and Trey Parker on board had paid dividends in the humour and authenticity departments. The only worry, however, was how the game would play. Obsidian have become well known for developing sequels and spin-offs for existing titles, as in the case of Fallout: New Vegas and Neverwinter Nights 2. By developing an entirely new game in a beloved franchise, the pressure has been on Obsidian to deliver a true South Park experience.

Thankfully, with the seven minute gameplay trailer below, South Park: The Stick of Truth looks to be the definitive South Park game. Featuring turn based JRPG style combat with an interactive twist a la Super Mario RPG as the meat on its trademark South Park bones, The Stick of Truth looks to be like playing an episode of the TV show.

South Park: The Stick of Truth is released for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC March 4th in the US and March 7th in the UK.
