Lego games have certainly become a gaming commodity and if we are being really honest with ourselves they are not just a must have for kids, we (ahem) adults like a good bash on them too. I say bash, the reality is I will spend every waking hour until I have 100% completion, my stud meter hits a number I’ve never even heard of and that every trophy/achievement is in the bag.
You could say I’m a little obsessive and no exception will be made when Lego Hobbit hits retail this Spring on PS4< Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, 3DS, PS Vita, Wii U and PC. Although no official release date has been set, GAME have Lego Hobbit scheduled for April. Below is the Lego Hobbit announcement trailer.
Lego Hobbit’s follows the story arc of the first two Hobbit movies, Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey & Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug. So far no Lego Hobbit 2 game has been confirmed (although it undoubtably will be) to cover the plot of the third and upcoming instalment of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: There and Back Again.
Like most Lego games the details are sketchy. We obviously can expect puzzles and challenges galore with a host of playable characters that we strive to unlock. We also expect the traditional sense of in joke humour often associated with Lego games. But where in middle-earth can we explore? Which characters will we get to play? If the previous Lego Lord of the Rings game is anything to go by we would hope that you can traverse the whole of Middle-Earth with new locations such as Mirkwood to face the horrifying spiders, Dol Guldur to reveal our true enemy Sauron or Beorn’s Hall to forge an unlikely alliance. Fans will hope to see all of their favourite characters such as Bilbo & Co but in proper Lego fashion I envisage a few surprise faces along the way.
Twinstickgaming has contacted Warner Bros (who recently announced the upcoming Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor) with any information on the game including the exact release date, character list and any confirmation on the upcoming Hobbit 2 game. Currently we are awaiting a reply so stay tuned with us to find out the latest.
