During my childhood, and against the better wishes of my parents, I spent endless hours playing Max Payne and the original Grand Theft Auto. No matter how far games progress I will always look at these two as the benchmark of gaming cool. But what would happen if these two games were to have an offspring? If they did, I reckon it would be something like the incredibly violent ‘Hong Kong Massacre.’ While still in early development, Hong Kong Massacre is a top down shooter created by indie developer Mr. Vreski, under the guise of DevLog. and has instantly caught my attention.

The games designer has clearly been inspired by early John Woo action movies, and while the game has no real story as of yet, Vreski has stated that he intends for the game to revolve around hunting down triad leaders and uncovering their base of operations. This in turn may also lead to finding more clues from each location, as to the whereabouts of your intended targets.
Hong Kong Massacre is instantly comparable to the infamous and controversial ‘Hotline Miami‘ series. Both are top down shooters with an insatiable appetite for extreme and gory violence.
The game has already confirmed that it features a “bullet time” mechanic, similar to Max Payne, so that players will be able to slow down time in the trickier parts of the game, so you can bullet dodge and pick your shots.
The best thing about this game, still being in early development, is that you can have your own say in the direction the game should take. So if you have got an amazing idea that you think this game can pull off, why not let them know via the twitter page? Message and put your suggestion to Vreski @vreskigames
