Ever since Kevin Conroy announced his involvement in the new Batman game, then spectacularly failed to appear in Warner Bros. Montreal’s: Batman Arkham Origins, rumours have circulated that Rocksteady may not be done with the Batman franchise afterall.
There have been other hints, such as them hiring new talent to work on an unnamed, triple-A, next-gen, action game. Or the fact that they have yet to announce what they are working on at all, to pretty much anyone – neither confirming nor denying the Batman rumours.
Well, fuel has certainly been added to those embers, producing roaring flames of speculation that, not only are Rocksteady indeed working on a new Batman title, but that it could be announced this month!
Firstly, Kotaku reported that GameStop stores in the US had started to receive new Batman promotional materials, showing the infamous Arkham logo engulfed in flames. Furthermore, they also referenced a Dutch journalist, Jan Meijroos who attended a Rocksteady press event a few weeks ago. The interesting thing? He said all information received at said event was under embargo until March (announced through his twitter account) – along with the message that ‘next month’s GI cover is pretty much a given’.
Incidentally, nearly a year ago to the day, Batman Arkham Origins was announced on the cover of none other than Game Informer!
Game Informer is set to release its March issue next week – and with any luck – the Bat will be out of the bag!
