Among all the rumours that The Last of Us will be coming to PS4 comes some truth. In an discussion with Turkish website, Multiplayer, Sercan Sulun (PlayStation’s Eurasian Software Market Manager) has stated that the Last of Us is being re-released for the PS4 this summer. However, this statement does dispel any rumours of a soon to be released Last of Us 2;
“……A sequel to The Last of Us may not be forthcoming any time soon, but the first game will be released this summer for PS4 as a physical and digital copy, with enhanced graphics.”
The PS4 version will also come bundled with the critically acclaimed singleplayer DLC, ‘Left Behind.’ No confirmation has been given as to whether the multiplayer section of the game, Factions, will be available on the PS4 version. Whilst the lack of a multiplayer mode might not be a concern to some, there are some avid Factions fans out there who will be eagerly awaiting the news, so much so it may be the tipping point for some fans to upgrade to the PS4 version.
This news is certainly welcome, as looking ahead through Sony’s PS4 calendar, there a very few major exclusives due this year. The Last of Us, to date, has sold over 6 million copies worldwide and with a host of PS4 owners out there I would expect this figure to increase significantly.
