Some of you, a bit like myself, may be a tad confused as to what is happening in the Assassin’s Creed universe. The words Assassin’s Creed 5 – Unity – Comet – Next Gen Only are all being thrown around, leading to much confusion. So, let’s put the cards down on the table.
There are potentially two Assassin’s Creed games coming out this year. First up is Assassin’s Creed Unity, which is set during 18th century at the time of the French Revolution. Full details on Assassin’s Creed Unity can be found here. Assassin’s Creed Unity is next gen only, so anyone with a PS4 or Xbox One will be very happy. However, that does mean anyone still with the previous generation consoles will miss out. Or will they?
That brings us to the second, as yet unconfirmed, announcement. Assassin’s Creed Comet is rumoured to be a direct sequel to Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and features characters from Assassin’s Creed 3 and 4. The main character of Assassin’s Creed Comet apparently is a man named Shay, supposedly a templar who mutinies Adewalé – the chief character from Assassin’s Creed DLC Freedom Cry. Set during 1758 we can expect to see more nautical battles but as of yet all other details remain scarce.
All of this rumour milling has come from Kotaku and french website Gameblog. Both claim that sources either close to or within Ubisoft have confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Comet is due this year and will be available only on PS3, Xbox 360 and – possibly – Wii U. If this is, true then people still with current gen consoles will be happy indeed as they can still get their Assassin’s fix without having to jump ship (no pun intended) and buy a next gen console.
So far when asked, Ubisoft have been reluctant to comment.
