Those who pre-ordered the upcoming Wolfenstein: The New Order were originally told that they would have access to the new Doom beta. However, Videogamer spotted that the beta will now only be a next gen affair. Anyone who purchases Wolfenstein on Xbox 360 or PS3 will receive a next gen beta code in relation to their counterparts, Xbox One and PS4. Bethedsa confirmed this information on their official website;
The DOOM Beta will only be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
DOOM beta access correlates to your pre-ordered Wolfenstein: The New Order platform…….If you purchase an Xbox 360 or Xbox One version of Wolfenstein: The New Order, you will receive an invitation to the Xbox One DOOM beta. PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4 purchasers will receive an invite to the PS4 DOOM beta. All PC purchases will receive an invite to the PC DOOM beta.”
There is still no word on what the new Doom game will actually entail, whether this is a reboot or direct sequel is still unknown. What we can tell you is that anyone who wishes to play the beta on Xbox One will need an Xbox Live Gold Subscription but PS4 users will not need a PS Plus Subscription.
As there is little information on the Doom beta it wouldn’t surprise me if the code isn’t fully active until sometime next year as Bethedsa have quite a few projects on the go, including the recently released Elder Scroll Online and the upcoming Evil Within.
If you are desperate for a beta code Wolfenstein: The New Order launches on May 20th.
