When Ubisoft unveiled Assassin’s Creed Unity to the world they declared that the game would only be available for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The last generation of consoles had been left out of the equation. At the time this seem hardly surprising as the Assassin’s Creed franchise felt like it had reached it’s boundaries and couldn’t push the limits of the Xbox 360 and PS3 any further.
However, Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot hinted that we may not have seen the last of Assassin’s Creed on Xbox 360 and PS3. In a Ubisoft investors call Guillemot had this to say;
Assassin’s Creed: Unity will be another major entry in the franchise’s history……The game will showcase the city of Paris with amazing next-gen graphics and will incorporate great new innovations that will be revealed at E3.
“The title will be released this fall on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. We have not disclosed our plan yet for the Xbox 360 and PS3 SKUs, however we have made it clear as a company that we will expect to continue supporting both consoles for the foreseeable future.“
All of this will add fire to the rumours that Ubisoft are working on a separate Assassin’s Creed game entitled ‘Comet.’ Although though not a confirmed title, speculation circulates that the game will have similar mechanics to Black Flag and will feature familiar characters.
