Having already sold something in the region of a ‘bajillion’ copies (give or take) of their FIFA franchise for consoles, EA have just announced they’re releasing (in open Beta) a free-to-play PC version, entitled FIFA World.
Developed by EA Canada, FIFA World will essentially be a slightly adapted version of the current FIFA Ultimate Team mode, featuring 16 000 players from 600 clubs, across 30+ licensed leagues, thus giving players access to all their favourite footballing heroes.
Prior to this extended release, the game underwent four closed Beta sessions, as well as a limited open Beta, and EA have said that the feedback and reaction to these have been instrumental in their shaping the game in to something FIFA fans will love, and giving them the opportunity to play their favourite football franchise on almost any PC*, anywhere.
1.5 million people registered for the beta sessions, and, given FIFA’s enduring popularity, this number is likely to increase exponentially as fans jump on board the free-to-play, anytime, anywhere footballing express train!!
Finally, in other, *totally* unrelated news, office/classroom/work-based productivity levels are expected to take a massive nosedive in the coming months…….
