Continuing with their bid for supremacy in all things console-y, it emerged recently that Sony have now outsold their Japanese rival Nintendo for the first time in eight years.
Sony sold a total of 18.7 million hardware units in the last financial year, whereas Nintendo’s own sales dropped 31%, to a total of 16.3 million units. A big part of Sony’s success is attributed to the ps4, which alone has shifted 8.1 million units, compared to 6.3 million for the Wii U, and 4.5 million for the Xbox One.
Coming so close to e3, this news will undoubtedly be welcomed by Sony, but in the fast-moving world of gaming, it would serve them not to rest on their laurels. Indeed, in many ways, the gaming year can be said to be e3 to e3, so, given that’s already upon us, the fight for next year’s gaming crown begins again right now.
Given a key part of keeping that crown will consist of giving those 8.1 million ps4 owners some great games to play, as well as giving others who don’t yet have one an incentive to go out and get one, e3 2014 just became even more important!!
So, with that in mind, keep it here as we cover exactly how e3 pans out for all the major players…….
