Batman Arkham Knight E3 Round Up Features Batmobile & Scarecrow

So E3 is now a thing of the past and we have been left with plenty of things to wet our appetites for our gaming needs.

Arkham Knight is of course one of those titles, fresh off the back of the disappointing news that the title was being pushed back until 2015, Rocksteady still had plenty to showcase and get our blood pumping.

Warner Brothers and Rocksteady showed some truly amazing footage of Batman suiting up and stepping out on to a balcony as the rain hammers down to behold a hugely expansive Gotham City. From here we finally get to see just how beautiful Gotham is as a result of the power from the next generation consoles. From the rain, the lights and incredibly intricate landscape, Batman leaps in to the dark, seedy metropolis and calls the Batmobile to his location.

As Batman lands, he leaps seamlessly into the Batmobile, speeding through the city and smashing anything that gets in its way. The Batmobile (which clearly draws some inspiration from The Dark Knight Trilogy ‘Tumbler’) is an armoured behemoth and fits in with the new armoured Batsuit. I think it’s safe to assume that this is going to be one hell of a night for Mr. Wayne, as he wages a war to reclaim the streets of Gotham in this final instalment of the Arkham series.

As the footage continues, Batman brings the Batmobile to a stop and turns the vehicle in to a kind of battle mode, as the wheels transform and all manner of heavy weaponry unfolds, until the Batmobile resembles more of a tank! The Batmobile (or Battank!) can then be seen driving and even strafing around corners, blowing things up and gunning the surroundings to pieces (not bad for a guy who claims he does not kill) – the Batmobile sure has a lot of fire-power!

What the combo counter is actually counting is unclear at this point but it looks like this will be an excellent way to build up some additional XP while exploring Gotham. We also get to see the mechanic of how Batman ejects from the Batmobile, which he does at an incredible rate and begins to soar through the city once again as he searches for his next targets.

As he does, he lands on a rooftop and takes out an unsuspecting thug with a new drop attack, which sees Batman drop down and send the thug flying with a powerful kick. We also see another new move called the ‘Fear Takedown‘. How this move is executed is unknown at this point but it would seem that the move leaves the victim absolutely helpless and allows you to take down an enemy without the need of a special combo takedown move at your disposal.

After making quick work of the thugs, Batman makes his way inside to see the Penguin up to his usual tricks of supplying the hordes of criminals with weapons. After a quick interrogation, the video is interrupted by some sort of static, which fans of the series will remember from Arkham Asylum. When the static clears, we see the Scarecrow finally make his reappearance to the series as he sits explaining that he will drag Batman’s beloved city to ‘oblivion.’

The Scarecrow has been confirmed to be the main villain alongside the mysterious Arkham Knight, which at present is pretty much an unknown entity.

Players of Arkham Asylum will remember the incredibly fun and well made nightmare stages, which Batman must work his way through after coming into contact with The Scarecrows signature fear toxin. The levels were highly praised by fans and since its release players have been eager to play more of these stages in subsequent games, although nothing has quite lived up to the same expectation as Arkham Asylum.

We may have some time to wait until the release of Arkham Knight but there are still plenty of reasons to be excited. Hopefully the year will bring us more exciting revealing footage and of course, we will be here to bring you everything you need to know.
