With the Last of Us Remastered making it’s way to PS4 this summer, you couldn’t blame Sony if they just wanted to hand over a quick cash-in port. Instead Sony are going all out. Not only have they recently lowered the price of the PS4 version of The Last of Us but they have assembled a Last of Us PS4 console bundle.
So far the bundle deal, which includes a black PS4, Dualshock 4 controller and a copy of the game, is only available on Amazon France. The price tag is also very attractive and is currently retailing at 429.99 Euros (£345). So far there is no word on whether any other retailer (physical or online) will stock this bundle and it is also unclear whether the bundle will be made available in the UK so we will keep you updated with any developments.
This statement of intent could see The Last of Us surpass the 6 million worldwide sales figure they were able to achieve with Ps3 version. Whilst 6 million sales is a huge milestone for any game, the sales figures have been unable to match any of the Xbox 360 exclusives such as Gears of War or Halo.
However, Sony will be acutely aware that with the current ongoing console war, that many Xbox devout’s may have jumped shipped to the PS4 – which, to be honest, has been one of the biggest commercial successes in terms of consoles sales. Whilst this Remastered version isn’t strictly a straightforward port and a fair amount of time and money has gone into it, Sony have been very shrewd by making sure they back one of their flagship titles. The game was already made and no matter how much The Last of Us set Naughty Dog back to remaster, potentially selling millions to every PS4 owner will be a smart and lucrative move.
You can expect The Last of Us Remastered (and hopefully the bundle) to hit the US on July 29th and EU August 1st.
