Today Gearbox’s Randy Pitchford announced that the latest game under development from the studio that brought us Borderlands, Alien Colonial Marines and Brothers in Arms, is Battleborn.
Much like Gearbox’s much loved franchise Borderlands, Battleborn has a unique comic book art style, yet features 9 playable heroes who must join together to overcome a new evil, named the Varelsi, that is threatening the universe.
Battleborn’s story is set in a “distant future, the only hope for the last star in a dying universe is a new breed of warriors, who must put aside their differences to drive back an unstoppable menace.”
The game is a first person hero shooter with RPG elements and the character designs have already been likened to that of League of Legends or Dota 2. The campaign follows a “dramatic story” which can be played co-operatively with up to 5 other players. A multiplayer mode will also be included which sees five players pit their skills against another 5 players.
Randy Pitchford also went on to say “Battleborn is the most ambitious video game that Gearbox has ever created.”
Battleborn is expected 2015 and will be available on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. I guess this now explains why Borderlands The Pre-sequel is previous gen only.
