Destiny developer Bungie has released some dissapointing news for anyone thinking they might be jumping around multiple solar systems. The ‘main part’ of Destiny is restricted to our solar system and less than a handfull of planets.
Yup, you heard that right. Four different zones. Earth, The Moon, Venus and Mars are explorable in the vanilla game. Each of these planets features just one area zone to explore. I use the word explore loosely, as the focus on the game seems to be more about shooting than exploration.
Fans that have already poured hours and hours into the Beta have probably seen all there is to see in Old Russia and The Moon, so that would only leave two new areas to tackle fresh. We won’t have a true idea on the scale and size of the full game until release but David “DeeJ” Dague, community manager for Destiny explained;
You go to Mars, you go to the Moon, you’ve got Venus, and you’ve got Earth
When pushed about exploration outside our solar system his responce was;
We’ve revealed everything that you’ll explore in the first version of the game.
That could mean one of a few things, I’m going to say DLC and additional content will expand this universe but Dague is confident that players will still have plenty to do.
Destiny’s pretty big, it’s the biggest game we’ve ever made, by far, and we’re sort of known for making games you can play for months, years, and even decades if you’re a little bit… dedicated.
So Bungie, like with their previous titles should be doling out new content on a regular basis. Destiny is due for release on 9th September 2014 on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 & Xbox One.
