Assassin’s Creed Rogue is headed to last-gen consoles this November. Ubisoft has created this game to show support for their loyal fans who have yet to make the jump to current-gen (PS4, X1). Considering that AC4: Black Flag came to both generations, plenty of fans are wondering whether or not Rogue will eventually be ported as well. Whilst not explicitly stated it will happen, Ubisoft have said a few things in that area.
In an interview during Gamescom, Ivan Balabanov (Ubisoft Sofia Producer) stated that ”It’s too early to discuss this subjects” and goes on to say ”Right now, Unity is our game for new generation consoles”.
Liberation, originally released for PS Vita, has recently been re-released for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. This hints that Ubisoft has resources to port games, and it’s reasonable to assume that Rogue will hit PS4 and Xbox One in the near future. Hopefully soon.
After playing Black Flag, and Unity in October, on PS4, playing an Assassin game on last-gen might feel like a step down in quality. It might have made more sense to make Black Flag on last-gen solely, instead of showing us how shiny it can be on current gen and then giving us a sequel on an inferior machine.
Either way, Rogue is looking to be a great new addition to the Assassin’s Creed universe. It looks to sell well at release, and would probably sell well again if remastered for current-gen. Fingers crossed that happens soon.
