Link, Animal Crossing & Different Coloured Yoshi’s All Coming To Mario Kart 8

Mario Kart 8 has helped Wii U sales skyrocket and brought the console back to the forefront of the gaming community. Now the beloved series is, for the first time ever, having cross-over Nintendo characters pit their racing skills against the Mario collective.

With Super Smash Bros. around the corner Nintendo are taking advantage of showcasing all of their best mascots throughout the decades, acutely aware that maybe this new generation of Nintendo fans might not know the likes of F-Zero or Samus etc. Well Mario Kart 8 has at least two planned DLC packs, the first of which is due November 2014 and includes;

  • mario kart 8 yoshiLink
  • Cat-Suit Peach
  • Tanooki-Suit Mario
  • Four New Vehicles
  • Eight tracks

Pack two due in May 2015 includes;

  • Animal Crossing’s Villager
  • Isabelle from Animal Crossing: New Leaf,
  • The Skeletal Dry Bowser
  • Four New Vehicles
  • Eight tracks

Each of these DLC packs will set you back around £7 or if you are in the U.S $7.99 or $11.99 if bought as a bundle.

Here is a statement taken from the Nintendo website.

Each Add On Content pack will contain two new cups, each with four courses, which, in total, increases the number of available courses by 50 percent. The Add On Content packs include classics like Wario’s Gold Mine from Mario Kart Wii, as well as new courses, some taking place in the worlds of The Legend of Zelda and Animal Crossing. New vehicles will also arrive with each pack, including the Blue Falcon kart representing the F-Zero franchise in the first AOC pack.”

Additionally, if anyone pre-orders both DLC packs they will also be given the option to change the skin colour of Yoshi and Shy Guy. We’ve all been there, fighting over who gets to play as Yoshi, well the DLC fixes that with 9 character skins to choose from for both Yoshi and Shy Guy, check out the video below from gameonion.
