Minecraft coming to next gen this week

Minecraft fans will be happy to know that the long wait for the next gen console versions are almost here.

Xbox One

Microsoft has confirmed that the Xbox One edition of Minecraft will be out this coming Friday (5th September). The new version will be priced at £15.99 unless you have the Xbox 360 version. You can then just upgrade for £3.99. Microsoft has also confirmed that any maps you have created on the Xbox 360 version will be transferable along with any purchased DLC.

Sony have officially announced that the PS4 edition will be released later today (3rd September) on the PSN store. The PS4 edition will  feature the same transfer features and pricing as the Xbox One version. A PS Vita edition is also on the way but we have no new details on that at the moment.

The pricing and release dates for Minecraft on next gen are for the digital versions only, we’re expecting Sony and Microsoft to announce details of a physical copy soon after the digital release.
