After years of rumours and outcry, and with Zelda producers neither denying nor confirming the existence of a Majora’s Mask 3DS remake, today it has finally been revealed that the game will hit the shelves next year.
Although no release date has yet been given, a European exclusive collectors edition has been revealed, which features the game, a double-sided poster, a very stylish steelbook, and an undoubtedly very collectible pin brooch of the Majora’s Mask.
Legend of Zelda fans have been crying out for a remake of the N64 title ever since the Ocarina of Time remake was released a couple of years ago, but have had their hopes somewhat dashed on several occasions with Eiji Anouma , producer of the Zelda franchise, merely stating ”I’m doing everything I can. I hear the voices of the fans. There are so many out there. It’s very loud, and just to acknowledge the fact that the need, the want is out there”.
Majoras Mask has something of a cult following, and many would argue that although Ocarina of Time helped to not only revolutionise the Zelda franchise, but the entire genre, Majora’s Mask is actually a superior game. With enhanced graphics, some of the most in-depth side quests a Zelda game has to offer, and a truly original plot, Majora’s Mask still remains a favourite of many to this day.
After today’s news, however, it looks like fans of the title will finally get to play their favourite Zelda game once more, and this slightly overlooked title will also have the potential to reach a whole new generation, allowing a new audience to experience this magnificent game.
We will, of course, keep you up to date with all of the latest news on this, as and when we have it.
