Well it didn’t take long before Sony dropped the price of Playstation TV. The Remote Play streaming device was originally released Christmas 2014 and came in at an eye-catching £84.99. The device allows gamers to stream their content from other PS4 consoles via remote play and now everyone can enjoy this luxury for £44.99.
A Sony spokesperson stated
“Starting from the March 27th, PlayStation TV will offer even greater value for money when it becomes available for only £44.99.
“Now with an even more accessible price, you can benefit from the advanced features and technology that PS TV brings to your home entertainment experience.
“By bringing new innovation into the home, you can have the freedom to play whenever and in whichever room you wish. PlayStation TV has never been more accessible, and there has truly never been a better time to expand your PlayStation experience.”
As with all brief statements, Sony didn’t elaborate as to the reason for the sudden price drop. Besides offering value for money, many would have to question whether poor sales are a factor. Granted no actual sales figures are available for the Playstation TV, but almost halving your price within a matter of months can sometimes speak volumes. However, this could also be a masterstroke for Sony. With around 20 million PS4’s sold already, perhaps Sony are hoping for almost as many Playstation TV’s in every home.
