Batman Arkham Knight: Batgirl is…
Only a few short days ago we reported on Rocksteady’s reveal of what to expect from some of the Season Pass content for their upcoming and highly anticipated title Batman Arkham Knight.
Rocksteady gave details of a prequel story mode which puts players in control of Batgirl. Of course we naturally started to wonder who would be under the mask seeing as Barbara Gordon – the original Batgirl, has spent her time assisting Batman as the all seeing Oracle.
During The Killing Joke in the pages of DC Comics, Barbara became Oracle after being shot and paralysed by The Joker and she can be seen in her wheelchair in a trailer for Arkham Knight.
So who is Batgirl? Well, according to Rocksteady it is indeed Barbara Gordon. But if this is the case, when is this prequel story set?
The story mode name “A matter of family” could perhaps be drawing influences from The Killing Joke storyline with an Arkham Universe twist but at this stage we can only speculate further.
The name of this downloadable story could also be a gentle nod towards famous storyline “Death in the family” where The Joker killed the second Robin – Jason Todd.
Some time ago we discussed the identity of the new villain The Arkham Knight and theorised on the possibility of Jason Todd or Dick Grayson being the Arkham Knight. With recent trailers revealing that Dick Grayson will be assisting The Dark Knight as Nightwing, this leaves only Jason Todd unaccounted for.
Could the “A matter of family” DLC tie in with the exclusive Red Hood story DLC which we also reported on, and explain Jason Todd’s activities in the Arkham universe?
Only time will tell and we will of course keep you up to date with everything you need to know!
